Practice Ride To Eastern Beaches

On Sunday May 6 a practice ride was held by the Custom Cycle Society for their upcoming Toronto Ride & Rally weekend June 23 -24, 2012. We met 10 other riders at Dundas Square for 11:30 and after a couple of hours of scoping out what others were riding, we headed out on Dundas to River street and down through the Distillery District to the Martin Goodman Trail and east to Cherry street. After stopping to let some people water the trees at Cherry Beach we continued east to Ashbridges Bay and then east to Balmy Beach near Vic Park and Queen. Heading west to the lunch stop most of the pack headed up to Queen street to get some lunch while we kept going to the pit stop at Leslie & Lakeshore. After snacking, we took the lower Lakeshore trail back west to Sherbourne and headed for home. All in all a good ride. 14km, 6.5 hrs.

-------------------------------
Not quite as warm as they said it would be, but a nice day for a ride anyways. I rode my Phat Cycles XC-3 chopper, Kate on her bikeE, Greg brought his Rat Fink, and Larry stopped by to visit (riding his bikeE) on his way to the parasail park. Greg's Rat Fink looks cool with those white "Thick Brick" tires on it! We had a great ride and stopped at the pit stop at Leslie & Lakeshore to watch the cyclists going by on the path. Then Lakeshore trail to Sugar Beach and then home.

Family Day Ride 2012

"Family Day" is observed in the Canadian provinces of Alberta, Ontario and Saskatchewan on the third Monday of February. This holiday celebrates the importance of families and family life to people and their communities.

It is also the first 2012 good-weather ride for Iron Horse members to take part in. Bright sun and a high of 4*Celsius (40*F), saw Kate and I riding down to the Music Garden at Harbourfront to visit with a friend who lives out the winter months on his sailboat in the marina there. I took the Phat XC-3 chopper and Kate took her bikeE recumbent cruiser. We visited about an hour and then headed to check out Sugar Beach and then up Sherbourne to the pit stop for coffee and then home. 3 hrs, 10km.
